Frank Risk Solutions actively supports the programs of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Safety & Health Division, the AIChE Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Petroleum Institute (API).

Mr. Frank has over 46 years’ experience in the chemical process industries, having held assignments in the areas of plant technical support, manufacturing supervision, research and development, design, construction review, project start-up, and process safety consulting.
Mr. Frank has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He is a member of American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the Delaware Association of Professional Engineers. He is a Certified Process Safety Professional (CCPSC) through the AIChE Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), a Certified Assessor for the American Petroleum Institute (API) Process Safety Site Assessment Program, and a registered Professional Engineer (State of Delaware). He is an AIChE and CCPS Fellow and an Emeritus Member of CCPS. He has authored/co-authored approximately 30 technical papers and journal articles and 9 books on process safety management topics, and has assisted in the development of approximately 20 other CCPS Process Safety Guidelines books and tools. Currently, he is a CCPS Staff Consultant, an instructor for the AIChE Academy, and the chair of the CCPSC Examination Committee.
Mr. Frank has significant experience consulting with the petroleum (both upstream and downstream), petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and paper industries, including participating in a number of company-wide assessments of process safety programs and organizational culture issues for major multi-national corporations. This included a five-year program providing technical support to the Independent Monitor overseeing, for the BP Board of Directors, the implementation of the recommendations contained in the BP U.S. Refineries Independent Safety Review Panel (Baker Panel) report in follow-up to the Texas City Refinery explosion. He has conducted over 100 process safety program audits and assessments.
Mr. Frank also consults in the area of combustible dust fire and explosion hazard evaluation and control. As a member of NFPA, has been involved in writing and updating NFPA combustible dust safety standards for over 25 years, and currently serves on four NFPA technical committees. He has played a key role in integrating process safety concepts into the NFPA combustible dust standards. His combustible dust safety consulting experience includes work with the food products, paper products, wood products, pharmaceutical, chemical, and petrochemical industries. He co-authored the NFPA® Guide to Combustible Dusts and recently authored the chapter on conducting dust hazard analyses in the book Methods in Chemical Process Safety – Volume 3: Dust Explosions.
